AFFiNE 0.18 Release Notes: Database and Mode
Database improvements
Database sort
The Sort feature in databases enables you to organize and prioritize entries according to specific fields. It helps surface relevant information first by sorting rows in ascending or descending order based on chosen parameters like dates, tags, or numeric values. This dynamic arrangement offers a tailored and streamlined view of complex data (The full-width feature is in testing. You can enable it under Experimental Features. π)
Enhanced linked doc and database integration
We've introduced powerful enhancements to linked doc and database interactions, providing a seamless and organized data management experience. Key features include:
- Easily link or create docs in database: Link an existing doc to a database by
@recent doc
and drag-and drop. Alternatively, create a new linked doc directly within a database, or convert existing text cell into a linked doc with one click for quick setup.
- Database property sync to doc info: Database properties automatically sync to a linked docβs
Doc Info
section, keeping relevant attributes accessible within the document while maintaining the original data in the database.
- Backlinks in doc info: Easily track doc connections with other docs or database in the upgraded "Backlinks" section, simplifying navigation and content traceability.
More properties and new settings

- Page width (π)
- Doc mode (π)
- Journal (π)
- Edgeless theme (π)
Page width property allow you full control over whether each page is full-width or not.
Doc mode property allows you to specify the mode for a document. When a document's Doc Mode is set to Edgeless, all users who open the document will also experience it in Edgeless mode. Unlike Doc Mode, Doc View only determines whether you're currently viewing the edgeless or doc version, without affecting the actual document state.
Journal property allow you to freely decide whether a document belongs to the Journal.
Edgeless theme property can specify the color mode of the whiteboard, you can choose from light/dark/auto. A determined color mode can better ensure that the content you share is consistent with your creative intent.
The following bugs have been successfully fixed:

When sorting attributes, some older attributes might not be directly sortable due to compatibility with legacy data.
Solution
To resolve this, simply add a new attribute and re-upload the old data. After updating the data, the older attributes will gain sorting capabilities.
